April 4, 2018: Spanish CONGDE organizes conference on global poverty and inequities

As part of a series of talks on international development cooperation, the Spanish development NGO umbrella organization CONGDE is holding a conference in Madrid aimed at discussing the new faces and components of global poverty. Targeting development professionals, journalists, government officials, and MPs, this conference will feature the participation of two representatives from the United Nations Development Program and the Spanish faith-based NGO Caritas.

November 2018: Spain to hold First Global Parliamentary Summit against Malnutrition

The Spanish Senate’s Development Committee announced in June 2017 that Spain would hold the first Global Parliamentary Summit against Malnutrition by November 2018; this has been confirmed by Spanish development agency AECID and the FAO. According to AECID, the summit will gather MPs and development officials from around the world, and aims to share experiences and innovative solutions to end hunger.

November 15-16, 2018: Ibero-American Summit in Guatemala to focus on SDGs

The Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), an inter-governmental organization based in Madrid, Spain, will host its bi-annual summit under the title 'For a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable Ibero-America'. SEGIB is formed by 22 states including Spain, Portugal, Andorra, and countries from Latin America and the Caribbean. According to the SEGIB, this year's Ibero-American summit will focus on the sustainable development goals’ (SDGs) 2030 agenda.
