August 27-September 1, 2017: World water week takes place in Stockholm

The Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) organizes the annual conference World Water Week in Stockholm, under the theme “water and waste: reduce and reuse”. The conference convenes researchers, decision-makers, business innovators, and CSO representatives to foster new thinking and exchange ideas around the most pressing water-related challenges.

August 26, 2017: Swedish Institute of International Affairs hosts seminar on global health development

As part of the Stockholm ACT festival, the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) is hosting a seminar addressing current development in global health. Under the theme “New threats to global health – and the Role of Philanthropy”, topics include pandemics, antibiotic resistance, and maternal mortality. The seminar also addresses issues of implementation of new technologies and global health efforts, as well as the role of donor and philanthropic support of implementation through funding mechanisms.

August 30, 2017: Swedish Water House hosts seminar on best practices of water sustainability in food sector

The Swedish Water House is organizing a seminar focused on successful water sustainability practices in global food industry. The seminar will address Sustainable Development Goal 6, which sets out to “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”, as well as showcase successful examples of global food companies that have become leaders in water sustainability by promoting sustainable practices in their factories and supply chain. September 7, 2017: Sida holds discussion on antimicrobial resistance

Sweden’s development agency Sida organizes a 'Development Talk' focused on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The event aims to increase awareness and understanding of the drivers and consequences of AMR and how it impacts the world’s poorest people. Attendees discuss ways to prevent the spread of 'the silent tsunami' of resistant bacteria among people and animals.

October 10, 2017: Sida holds forum on democracy and human rights

Sida, the Swedish development agency, holds an annual public development forum to gather stakeholders working on development issues. Organized as part of Sweden’s engagement in the SDG Agenda 2030, this year's event focuses on democracy and human rights. Key questions to be explored include how 'alternative' truths and slander in the public forum can affect freedom of expression, and how effective collaboration can strengthen democracy.
