May 18-19, 2018: Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM)
The Eighth Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM8), hosted by the government of Japan, will be held at Iwaki Fukushima, Japan.
The meeting will gather participants from seventeen countries, including Japan and fourteen Pacific island countries. Titled "We are Islanders – Partnership Towards Prosperous, Free and Open Pacific", the conference's aim is to enhance and strengthen joint cooperation and contributions to regional prosperity and security, including shared challenges such as natural disasters and climate change.
The summit will be hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and welcomes leaders and representatives of the Asian pacific regions.
