Australia reshapes international development assistance program to address COVID-19

Australian government submissions to the Senate Select Committee on COVID-19 states its intention to reshape Australia’s development assistance program to ensure health security, economic recovery, and stability in the region.

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet has stated that Australia will engage with the World Health Organization (WHO), Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and the G20 on the virus response.  Australia is also working with its Pacific partners to directly support their management of the COVID-19 crisis and to create a 'Humanitarian Essential Services Corridor' that will enable the movement of supplies and health experts across the Pacific.
