Canada's new minister of foreign affairs attends G20 Meeting

Canada's minister of foreign affairs, François-Philippe Champagne, attended the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in Nagoya, Japan, from November 22– 23, 2019. 

The minister participated in discussions about free trade and global governance, the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, and support for African development initiatives. Champagne also showed Canada's support for the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) by attending the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative (NPDI).

Japan currently holds the G20 presidency under the theme "Ensure Global Sustainable Development".  Saudi Arabia will take over the presidency on December 1 of this year.
