Canada re-elects Justin Trudeau as prime minster; Liberals form minority government

Canada's federal election took place on October 21, 2019. The Liberal Party, led by Justin Trudeau, maintained enough seats to hold a minority government despite the Conservative Party winning the popular vote. The election demonstrated a clear divide in the country, with Western Canada (Alberta and Saskatchewan) showing overwhelming support for the Conservatives and Eastern Canada supporting the more left-leaning parties.
