Canada announces support for Mozambique peace agreement

Following the signing of the Maputo Peace and Reconciliation Agreement in Mozambique by the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, and the Renamo leader, Ossufo Momade, Canada has announced its support for the efforts to pursue sustainable peace. 

Canada also contributed US$1 million to support the implementation of the peace process. This funding will go toward reconciliation and disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration. Canada has shared its willingness to assist in the next step for Mozambique, administering free and fair elections.
