Canada to support 25 projects improving education access for women and girls

Canada's minister of international development and minister for women and gender equality,  Maryam Monsef, announced that Canada will be funding 25 new education projects. The announcement came after the G7 development ministerial meetings in Paris.

The projects are predominantly based in sub-Saharan Africa and will target women and girls in fragile conflict and crisis situations. The projects align with the Charlevoix Declaration on Quality Education for Girls, Adolescent Girls, and Women in Developing Countries. Their aim is to reduce the barriers women and girls face to equitable access to quality education, to improve the quality of education systems, and to support skills development and sex-disaggregated education and gender equality data.
