Japan to organize training for West African health professionals on lab skills and infectious diseases

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in collaboration with the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), will organize a training program in Ghana for healthcare professionals from nine West African countries.

The training program, known as 'Third Country Training Course on Enhancing Laboratory Skills for Infectious Diseases in West African Countries for Post Ebola', is designed to provide training in modern laboratory technology in order to improve disease surveillance and prevention in Ghana and neighboring countries.

Last year's program drew participants from four different West African countries, which has been expanded to nine this year, reflecting the growth of the program's relevance as well as Japan's commitments in the region.
