Korea International Cooperation Agency establishes committee to develop 2030 strategy

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has established a ‘2030 committee’ to discuss its future strategic direction. Nearly 30 years after KOICA was founded, the committee is tasked with setting a direction for the next 10 years and developing a 'New KOICA 2030 Transformation Plan'. There is a recognition that KOICA must transform its approach in response to changing domestic and international circumstances and the need for renewed focus to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) domestically and in partner countries.

The committee will recommend policy measures across four areas:

  1. KOICA’s objectives and way forward by 2030;
  2. KOICA’s strategy to reach the SDGs through official development assistance;
  3. Measures to drive and maintain results; and
  4. KOICA’s future after 10 years.

The committee consists of 20 members, 10 from KOICA and 10 external, including representatives from academia, civil society, and policy institutions.
