South Korea kicks off first high-level policy dialogue with WHO
The Ministry of Health and Welfare of South Korea kicked off its first high-level policy dialogue with the World Health Organization (WHO) on June 4, 2019.
The dialogue was based on WHO’s 13th General Program of Work for 2019-2023. WHO, which regularly conducts policy dialogues with major developed nations, discussed with Korea topics such as the development of international medical cooperation, global disease eradication funds, environmental health, and policies for universal healthcare.
In addition to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) and other governmental agencies on health participated. The South Korean government will continue to participate in dialogue with WHO annually moving forward.
