South Korea to host summit with ASEAN member countries
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of South Korea will be hosting the ASEAN- Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit in Busan, South Korea on November 25-26, 2019. This is the biggest international conference with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states hosted under president Moon, Jae-in’s administration.
The summit will be held in conjunction with the first Mekong-Republic of Korea Summit with countries in the Mekong region. With the slogan of 'partnership for peace, prosperity for people', the summit will focus on reviewing the development of South Korea’s relations with ASEAN member states over the last thirty years and present the way forward with a shared vision for the coming thirty years.
South Korea’s partnership and cooperation with ASEAN member states has been strengthened by President Moon’s New Southern Policy that prioritizes greater mutual understanding of ASEAN member states and India through the expansion of exchanges, building a base for mutually beneficial, future-oriented economic cooperation and constructing a peaceful and safe environment in the region.
