Pedro Sánchez meets with Spanish civil society representatives

Spain’s acting Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and his government’s development leadership officials, including Juan Pablo de Laiglesia (Secretary of State for International Development Cooperation) and Aina Calvo (director of the Spanish development agency AECID) met with civil society representatives including officials from CONGDE (Spanish development NGO umbrella organization) and Oxfam Intermón.

The meeting which was held in Spain and organized by the governing socialist party of  Sánchez, was aimed at gathering questions and concerns from civil society organizations in the field of development affairs. Among other measures, the attendee NGOs underlined the need to increase Spain’s official development assistance to 0.5% of its gross national income by 2023 and to strengthen the governing institutions of the Spanish development policy.
