Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez loses parliament’s investiture vote

Three months after the general elections were held in April 2019, the Spanish socialist workers' party (PSOE) of acting Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez did not manage to reach a governing agreement with the left-wing Podemos party. As a consequence, Sánchez was unable to form a new government and lost the investiture session at the congress of deputies.

Negotiations between the PSOE and Podemos will continue till 23 September 2019, until the next investiture vote deadline. If no governing agreement is reached by then, current prime minister elects will not be appointed and another general election will be held in Spain by November 2019
