Spain to resume funding to Global Fund with €100 million pledge

At the UN General Assembly, acting prime minister Pedro Sánchez announced that Spain will resume contributions to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria with a €100 million (US$113 million) pledge for the next replenishment period of 2020 to 2022. Due to budgetary constraints, Spain’s last contribution to the Global Fund was made in 2010.

The Global Fund and Spanish health NGOs have applauded this contribution, which will support the objective of ending the three pandemics by 2030.
