Sweden adopts new development cooperation strategy with Rwanda

On January 30, 2020, Sweden adopted a new development cooperation strategy for Rwanda worth SEK 1.3 billion (US$132 million) for the period 2020-2024. The strategy focuses primarily on peaceful democratic development, gender equality, and inclusive and environmentally sustainable economic growth.

“Rwanda has made progress in economic and social rights, as well as for gender equality,"  said Peter Eriksson, Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation. "Through the new strategy, Sweden will contribute to greater participation in the democratic processes of the people of Rwanda. Participation in women and young people is strengthened, not least through the focus on sexual and reproductive rights and health.”
