UK announces new International Development Infrastructure Commission

The new UK secretary for state for international development, Alok Sharma, has announced he will set up an International Development Infrastructure Commission to boost the quality of UK infrastructure projects in countries receiving development assistance. The new Commission will be made up of leading international business leaders from Africa, Asia, and the UK, and will advise Sharma on how to increase the UK’s role in financing and developing infrastructure that promotes sustainable and inclusive growth.

The announcement comes ahead of the UK-Africa Investment Summit in 2020 which aims to build on future opportunities for trade between the UK and African businesses.
