UK provides new funding for small charities responding to global challenges in developing nations
The UK Department for International Development (DFID) has reformed its Small Charities Challenge Fund (SMCF) to enable new funding to UK charities with an income of less than £250,000 (US$321,000). Small charities will now, for the first time, be able to access cash grants of up to £50,000 (US$64,000) to help them to respond to global challenges in developing countries.
The SMCF was launched in July 2017 and aims to support British expertise. It currently funds 52 UK charities that deliver vital work in 20 developing countries.
