EU Member States’ latest long-term EU budget position calls for increased external action
The Romanian presidency of the Council of the EU released an assessment of the state of negotiations on the EU’s next long-term budget, the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework. The assessment calls for increased external action as a part of a coordinated approach on migration. However, it provides multiple options on the undecided issue of whether the European Development Fund should be integrated into the EU budget or kept off-budget.
Member States will discuss this assessment, or “negotiating box”, at the General Affairs Council on June 18, 2019.
