July 19, 2018: Center for Strategic and International Studies hosts ILO's Director-General
The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) will host Guy Ryder, the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), for a discussion on the global future of jobs.
As part of its Global Commission on the Future of Work, the ILO is seeking to understand the future of work and the roles of various stakeholders. The world faces complex challenges posed by a growing and aging population, forced migration, persistent poverty, urbanization, and a series of technological disruptions impacting labor, with the ILO estimating 600 million new jobs needed over the next 15 years to keep up with current demand.
The discussion will focus on how to best channel population growth in order for it to lead to demographic dividends. The event will be webcast live.
