Fifth EU-Africa Summit to take place in Côte d’Ivoire
The fifth EU-Africa Summit takes place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on November 29-30, 2017. The EU-Africa Summit brings together key decision-makers from the EU and Africa to discuss the future of relations and to deepen connections between the two continents. The Summit falls within the context of ongoing discussions and negotiations on the renewal of the Cotonou Partnership Agreement and the future relations between the EU and African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP). By the end of 2017, the European Commission will have received the mandate from the European Council to negotiate a new agreement for the period 2018-2020. The Summit occurs every three years and its 2017 edition follows several key events, including the EU-Africa Business Forum and the election of African Union representatives.
