Norway development reform shifts roles and responsibilities between foreign ministry and Norad
A development reform in Norway is set to identify new roles and responsibilities for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) from January 1, 2020 onwards. Humanitarian assistance and grants for human rights work will continue to be managed by the MFA, as will decision-making concerning the strategic allocation of funds. Norad be responsible for ensuring quality assurance, assessment, implementation, and follow-up relating to the funds.
No jobs are expected to be lost as the aim is to maximize the capacity of both organizations.
