2022 Eurobarometer survey shows citizens support EU development cooperation

The just-released results of the 2022 Eurobarometer survey conducted between February and March of 2022 show that 89% of EU citizens support the EU working with partner countries to tackle poverty, with 80% of those surveyed also saying this should be one of the EU’s main priorities.

While the level of overall support for development cooperation has stayed steady, the respondents saying it is “very important” has increased by 4%. Within the EU’s development cooperation, 91% of the respondents support education as one of the EU’s main priorities.

The Eurobarometer survey on development cooperation was commissioned by the European Commission’s directorate-general (DG) for development and the DG for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) and was conducted by the Kantar network across all 27 EU member states.
