Canada announces US$20 million in funding for Palestinians affected by recent violence

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced C$25 million (US$20 million) in funding to support vulnerable Palestinian civilians affected by the recent violence in Gaza and the West Bank.

The funding will be provided primarily through UN agencies, and will be distributed as follows:

C$10 million (US$8 million) for urgent food assistance, water, shelter, sanitation and hygiene, and psychosocial support for the most vulnerable, including children;

CA$10 million (US$8 million) for humanitarian and rebuilding efforts, such as vital medical infrastructure; and

CA$5 million (US$4 million) for comprehensive peace-building initiatives between the Israelis and Palestinians.
