Dutch pharmaceutical company will begin human trials of COVID-19 vaccine in July 2020

The Dutch pharmaceutical company Janssen Vaccines announced that clinical trials on human subjects for a potential COVID-19 vaccine will begin in July of 2020. The vaccine will be tested on 1,045 healthy people in Belgium and the United States. According to Janssen, if the trial results are positive, the vaccine will be fairly distributed between countries globally.

Janssen Vaccines is also expanding its production capacity, with the intention to have one billion doses of the COVID-19 vaccine available in 2021.

While not directly financing this vaccine development program, the Dutch government has helped facilitating the development process.
