FAO, Spanish AECID launch joint report on rural women’s rights in Latin America, Caribbean

With the objective of raising awareness and making the case for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2, concerning hunger eradication, and SDG 5 on gender equality, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) launched the joint report, ‘Protecting rural women’s rights in Latin America’ on October 28, 2021.

Among the key findings of the report, the AECID and FAO underline the valuable and crucial role of women living in rural areas as key actors in the sustainable development process. The report also provides specific recommendations for Latin American countries to deploy public policies and normative frameworks in order to effectively protect rural women's rights.
