Germany's new development minister promises stronger engagement in sustainable development

During the G7 foreign and development minister meeting in Liverpool, UK, on December 11, 2021, the new German development minister, Svenja Schulze, highlighted the G7 states’ responsibility to low- and middle-income countries in fighting the COVID-19 and climate crises. Schulze promised that Germany will take on this responsibility and expand its political engagement for global development.

Schulze highlighted the importance of a fair and global distribution of vaccines in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and called for a ‘just transition’ in global climate protection, emphasizing the intersections of climate neutrality and social justice.
