South Korea continues support for COVID-19 response in Southeast Asian nations

Korean President Jae-in Moon stated at the 24th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Plus 3 Summit Meeting on October 27, 2021, that it will sustain its support for ASEAN member states’ COVID-19 response. South Korea will contribute an additional US$5 million to the COVID-19 ASEAN Response Fund this year, an increase from US$1 million last year.

South Korea made first-time donations of COVID-19 vaccines to Vietnam and Thailand, members of ASEAN, in October 2021. President Moon also noted that South Korea will increase official development assistance (ODA) for climate, digital, and health initiatives in the region.
