Spain's AECID launches project to end gender-based violence in Dominican Republic

The Director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Antón Leis, met with the Dominican Minister of Women, Mayra Jiménez on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, November 25, 2021, while on an official visit to the Dominican Republic; AECID launched a new program to foster women's empowerment and gender equality in the country during the visit.

The AECID’s new program, ‘Strengthening the Dominican Public Health System to Support Women and Girls Who Suffered Gender-based Violence,’ will be conducted in collaboration with the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Health and Ministry of Economic Affairs and Development. Leis took advantage of his intervention during the launch event to underline the need to accelerate the elimination of gender-based violence.
