USAID announces US$4.5 billion additional assistance to Ukraine

On November 22, 2022, the US announced it would provide an additional US$4.5 billion in assistance to Ukraine through the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Under the broad umbrella of reducing the Ukrainian government's budget deficit, the funding will support the government's provision of basic goods and services, such as hospitals, schools, emergency response, and water and electrical infrastructure.

The package also includes measures, such as heating and housing subsidies, to support individuals impacted by the war, particularly those who are elderly, disabled, displaced, and/or receive low incomes.

The additional funding brings the total of direct US assistance to the Ukrainian government to US$13 billion since the beginning of the war in February 2022.
