Introduction
On 7 July 2022, the Donor Tracker co-hosted a discussion with the Argidius Foundation on trends and policies in development finance for SMEs, featuring a presentation from Dorothee Bargstädt and Benjamin Overton (Donor Tracker), remarks from Harry Devonshire (Argidius Foundation), and a panel discussion featuring Christian Crivari (European Commission), Matthew MacDevette (FCDO), and Farid Tadros (We-Fi at the World Bank).
Following presentations on the top funders in the SME development sector, the conversation explored how SME development intersects with other sectors such as climate and gender equality, how funders and practitioners can pair SMEs with the right kind of support, and how COVID-19 is impacting funding to the sector.
