European Commission pledges US$118 million to Adaptation Fund at COP26

The European Commission announced that it will contribute €100 million (US$118 million) to the Adaptation Fund for climate adaptation at COP26.

The commitment is the largest pledge to the Adaptation Fund at COP26 by any donor. The pledge aligns with the Commission's EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change, which was adopted in February 2021; the plan aims to support the EU and the rest of the world in preparing for the unavoidable impacts of climate change. Its strategy focuses primarily on supporting Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States.
