Spain approves new Advanced Cooperation Agreement with Cape Verde focused on climate, gender equity

Spain's State Secretary for International Cooperation (SECI), Pilar Cancela, visited Cape Verde on December 20, 2021, to meet with local authorities and present Spain's new Advanced Cooperation Agreement that will guide development cooperation interventions in the country.

According to the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAEC) the new Advanced Cooperation Agreement between Spain and Cape Verde will focus on fostering gender equality, advancing socioeconomic progress and employment policies with a special emphasis on rural development, and strengthening sustainable measures for protecting the ocean. Spain will deploy, in collaboration with the government of Cape Verde, projects related to women’s and girls’ empowerment and to LGBTQ2 rights.
