Spain’s 2022 budget sets ODA at US$4 billion, 0.28% GNI

On December 28, 2021, the Spanish Congress of Deputies approved the General State Budget for 2022 with support from 15 different parliamentary groups including the governing social-democratic Socialist Party (PSOE) and the left-wing Podemos party amongst others. The Spanish budget for 2022 includes up to €26.3 billion (US$30.0 billion) as part of the European Commission Recovery Plan for Spain.

The 2022 budget sets Spain’s official development assistance (ODA) at €3.51 billion (US$4.0 billion), or 0.28% of the country’s gross national income (GNI). This budget represents a €392 million (US$447 million), or 16%, increase compared to estimates for 2021 ODA.
